I recently had the chance to taste Wan Ton Noodle at Restoran Yin. Located just on the ground floor of The Majestic Condo Ipoh, Restoran Yin 燕姐雲吞麵屋 opened on March 18, 2017 specialized in Wan Ton Noodle, or WanTan Min in Cantonese.
Started by Mr Wong during the 70’s, now the recipe has been passed down to his daughter Madam Yin to continue the traditional Wan Ton Noodle recipe. Now the recipe is maintained and run by their 3rd generation.
Previously they operated inside Kedai Kopi Kheng Hai around Jalan Yau Tet Shin they eventually moved and setup their own Wan Ton Noodle Restaurant serving complete local’s version of Wan Ton Mee.
I ordered 1½ Char Siu Wan Ton Mee with Chinese herbal drink Lo Hon Guo which total up to RM 8.50. The portion was big enough for me and let’s dig-in.
The Wan Ton Mee serves with the slices of black char siu, which happened to be my favourite type of char siu as it’s totally covered with glazing bbq sauce.
The noodle was cooked al dente, just right not too soft or soggy. The texture was chewy and I think it is slightly thicker compares to other type of wan ton noodles.
